U’khand administration gears up for Youth-20 convention

The chief secretary SS Sandhu reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Youth -20 convention at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh in a meeting held at the State secretariat on Friday. The Youth-20 convention is part of the G-20 summit and would be held under the aegis of the Union ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. In the convention youth from all parts of the country and G-20 nations would take part.
The CS said that since the convention is being organised in Uttarakhand it gives opportunity to portray the image of the country and the State in the world. He said that Uttarakhand is a tourism State and the convention is an opportunity for the State to present its natural beauty and cultural richness to all parts of the globe. He directed the officers to ensure that proper arrangements to welcome, boarding and lodging are made for the participants of the convention. Sandhu said that facility of help desk should be set up at airport, railway station and bus stands for the participants so that they do not face any difficulty in reaching the place of the convention. He directed the tourism, agriculture and industry departments to place stalls of the local produces at the place where the convention is being held. The CS said that the participants should carry home fond memories of the State and its art and culture.
He said that the administration should ensure that the participants do not face the problem of traffic jam in Rishikesh. The CS added that proper arrangements of health and security arrangements for the participants are made during the convention.
The Youth-20 convention would be organised on May 5 at AIIMS Rishikesh and is part of the G-20 summit being hosted and presided by India.
The principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, special principal secretary Abhinav Kumar, secretaries Dilip Jawalkar, BVRC Purushottam, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Deependra Kumar Chaudhary, additional secretary C Ravishankar, district magistrate of Dehradun Sonika, Dehradun senior superintendent of police Dalip Singh Kunwar, director general of information Banshidhar Tiwari and others were present in the meeting.
