Golden card scheme revamped; fees of govt medical colleges slashed
With the crucial assembly elections round the corner, the Pushkar Singh Dhami government has gone on an overdrive to please all sections of the society, especially the state government employees. The cabinet in its meeting on Thursday took many such decisions. The cabinet meeting chaired by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took a total of 25 decisions on Thursday.
Heeding to long pending demands of various employee associations on the Golden card scheme, the state cabinet decided that the prevalent rates of the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) would be applicable in deciding the packages of the golden card scheme for the state government employees. The employee associations were demanding this for quite some time now and it was fulfilled by the state cabinet on Thursday.
In another important decision which brings parity in the fee structure of the government medical colleges of Uttarakhand with that of other states, the cabinet reduced the fees of MBBS courses. The students who would not enter a bond with the state government would have to pay an annual fee of Rs 1.45 lakh only. At present this fee is Rs 4 lakh which has been reduced. The incentive of the Asha facilitators has been increased to Rs 2000 from the Rs 1,000. The cabinet also decided to pay a bonus to the state government employees at par with the central government employees. The cabinet also granted its approval to hold a two-day Assembly session on November 29 and 30 at the summer capital Gairsain.
