U’khand Congress attacks Bhagat for derogatory remarks on deities

The Uttarakhand Congress has taken a strong exception to the statement of former president of Uttarakhand BJP Banshidhar Bhagat allegedly made on the Hindu goddesses. The party said that the Bhagat has made derogatory comments about Goddess Laxmi, Durga, Sarawati and Lord Shankar and Vishnu.
Interacting with the media persons here on Wednesday the Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana said that the episode has exposed the real face of the BJP. He said that Bhagat’s statement has offended the religious sentiments of the crores of followers of Hinduism in the country. Dhasmana added that the act of the senior leader of the BJP is unpardonable and he has changed the ‘ Beti Bachao Beti Padhao slogan of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He demanded that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the President of BJP should come out and explain their position on the statement of Bhagat. “If they do not endorse his comment then action should be taken against Bhagat within 24 hours,’’ he said.
Dhasmana said that the BJP leaders are now venting out their frustration accumulated due to the flak they received in the Ankita Bhandari murder case on Congress spokesperson Garima Dasauni. He said that the Congress party is standing like a rock with Dasauni on the issue.
Speaking on the occasion Dasauni said that the case registered against her is an attempt to stifle the voice of opposition in the State. She added that she would not get intimidated by such acts of cowardice.
The Vice President Mathura Dutt Joshi and others were present on the occasion.
