U’khand Congress forms human chain to remember Gandhi

The Congressmen of Uttarakhand formed a large human chain here on Monday to commemorate the death anniversary of Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The leaders of the party also expressed gratitude to former president of Congress party Rahul Gandhi for successfully holding of Bharat Jodo Yatra which culminated in Kashmir on the day.
The Congress leaders and workers assembled at the headquarters of Congress party at Rajpur road and paid floral tributes on the picture of Mahatma Gandhi. They then formed a human chain from Congress Bhawan to Clock tower and Gandhi Park. The party workers braved the rain to take part in the programme.
Addressing the party workers, the Vice President of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana said that on this date, the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi who was a symbol of love, peace, non violence and communal harmony was shot by the first terrorist of India. He said that the ideology which killed Gandhi is now trying to divide India on the lines of religion, caste and region. Dhasmana said that Rahul Gandhi took out a 3970 km long Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in 135 days which passed through 14 States against this hatred spread by the divisive forces. He said that the Yatra which culminated today has become a history and it is being discussed in the whole country and world. Dhasmana said that the idea of the national harmony and integrity uplifted this Yatra above politics and it is the reason why leaders of important political parties, leading personalities from different fields, prominent members of society, business community, retired armed and Para military forces personnel and others made it a point to attend the Yatra. He said that now it is the responsibility of every Congressman to take the message of love and harmony to every household. The president of Mahanagar Congress Jasvinder Gogi said the party workers would take the message of Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Khadke in all the 100 wards of Dehradun city.
The Vice president organisation Mathura Dutt Joshi, Puran Singh Rawat, Naveen Joshi, Garima Dasauni and others were present on the occasion.
