BJP misusing official machinery, does not believes in democratic values- Godiyal
In protest against what it termed the dictatorial attitude of the BJP government of the state by holding the rally of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the same day and place where the Congress party had proposed to hold Sankalp Vijay Shankhnaad Rally in Haldwani, the Uttarakhand Congress organised symbolic fasts in all parts of the state on Wednesday. The party had planned to hold the rally in Haldwani to welcome Yashpal Arya on November 10 but later postponed it by one day.
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president participated in the fast at state headquarters.
Later addressing the party workers, Godiyal said that the manner in which the venue was reserved for the rally of the CM clearly shows that the BJP does not believe in democratic values. He said that the BJP has started misusing the official machinery and is trying to place obstacles in the programmes of the opposition which is not a good sign for democracy. “We postponed our programme on the request of the administration and prevented creation of any unwarranted situation. However the BJP should not take it as a sign of our weakness,’ ’he asserted.
Godiyal said that it appears that the BJP has got frightened by the growing popularity of the Congress party.
Taking a dig at the BJP for its Ghar Ghar BJP slogan, the PCC president said that the BJP should focus on providing cooking gas cylinders to houses and give relief from rising prices. He said that in the last four and half years the BJP leaders had not paid any heed to the problems of the people. Launching a scathing attack on the Chief Minister Dhami, the PCC president said that the government should inform about the mining leases given in the last 100 days. He claimed that more leases were given in the last three months than four years.
Former ministers Hira Singh Bisht, Dinesh Agarwal, Matbar Singh Kandari, vice president Surendra Kumar, general secretary organisation Mathura Dutt Joshi and others attended the programme.
