U’khand elections- 750 candidates in 70 constituencies

After the end of the process of filing of nominations on Friday and scrutiny of the papers on Saturday a total of 750 candidates are in the fray for the upcoming assembly elections. On the last day of the nomination on Friday, 302 candidates filed their papers from different assembly constituencies.
In Dharampur assembly constituency of Dehradun maximum 20 candidates have filed their nomination papers while in Narendra Nagar assembly constituency of Tehri, Bajpur of Udham Singh Nagar and Yamkeshwar of Pauri district only six candidates each have filed their nominations. Dehradun district which has ten assembly constituencies 144 candidates have filed their nominations while in Haridwar 131 candidates are in the fray. There are 11 assembly constituencies in Haridwar district.
The picture would however become clear on January 31 which is the last date of withdrawal of the nomination papers. The polling would be held in the state on February 14 and the counting of the votes would be done on March 10.
