U’khand fully prepared to host 38th National Games: Arya

Uttarakhand will host the 38th National Games to be organised by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), informed the State sports minister Rekha Arya on Friday.  While informing this, Arya expressed gratitude to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, saying that the State has got the opportunity to hold the national sports event thanks to the CM’s initiative and persistence.  Sharing further details, the minister said that the Indian Olympic Association has instructed them to collect the IOA flag at the closing ceremony of the 37th National Games being held now in Goa.

Arya appreciated the efforts of all those who had taken initiatives on behalf of the State in this matter and averred that the State government would go all the way to make the national sports event to be held in Uttarakhand a huge success.  

She also spoke about the good performance of Uttarakhand in the arena of athletics at the ongoing 37th National Games in Goa. “They are showcasing their athletic mettle during the event and we are proud of them,” she said and added that the State government has been going the whole hog to hone the budding sports talent in the youngsters through rolling out a slew of incentives in the form of scholarship and the like.
