U’khand govt committed to development in every field- Governor

Assembly session starts with the address of the Governor Gurmit Singh

The governor of the Uttarakhand lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh said that the State government is committed to set new dimensions in achieving the development goals in all the sectors. He was addressing the first session of the fifth elected assembly  of Uttarakhand on Tuesday.  He said that the Pushkar Singh Dhami government is determined to fulfill all its promises and the development targets. The governor said that in view of long term national interests the state government would provide necessary help to the ex-servicemen and youngsters of the state for settling in the districts located along the international border under Him Prahari scheme. On the lines of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, the CM Kisan Protsahan Nidhi is proposed in Uttarakhand. The governor informed that an Uttarakhand Organics Brand would be developed and under Mission Mayapuri efforts would be made to make Haridwar the international capital of Yoga. Under the project high quality infrastructure would be developed in Haridwar to make it  a centre of spiritual tourism. The state government is also planning to set up a separate corpus for providing financial support for the ventures undertaken by women self help groups. The governor added that the government would provide 4G and 5G mobile networks and high speed broadband and fibre internet in the rural areas of the state. A Parvat Mala scheme, a network of ropeways would be set up for fast connectivity in the mountainous areas of the state.

The BJP government facilitated recruitment to 76,969 regular posts and requisition to fill 1,554 posts in different departments has been sent to Uttarakhand Public Service Commission.

The governor said that 403 doctors were recruited in the state health department to strengthen the health services. Similarly the process of recruitment of dental doctors is underway. The government has given in principle approval to the proposal to upgrade the Raipur (Dehradun) and Someshwar (Almora) Community Health Centres (CHCs) to 100 bed hospitals. He said that the state has taken innovative steps in the field of education. Uttarakhand is in number one position in the country in enrolment for Inspire Awards. The government also started 189 Atal Utkrisht schools.  In the higher education sector, 14 new government colleges were opened in the state which included a vocational college in Paithani (Pauri) and a Model College in Mithiberi in Haridwar.

In his address the  governor said that under the Mukyamantri Anchal Amrit Yojana, fortified milk is being provided four days a week to 2.56 lakh children in Anganwadi centres. Similarly a sum of Rs 3,000 per month is being provided to such children who lost either of their parents during Covid-19 pandemic. This amount would be given till the children attain the age of 21 years. The state government has also increased the pension of former armed forces personnel of World War II and widows of army personnel from Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per month. He said that the forest cover of Uttarakhand witnessed an increase of eight square kilometres and in the last four years 7.86 crore trees were planted. To encourage the returnees (during pandemic) for self employment ventures, the state government has started a Mukhyamantri Swarozgar scheme. In the aviation sector Uttarakhand has received the Most Proactive State 2020 award for successful operation of the Regional Connectivity Scheme. The governor in his address said that in the last five years an increase of 0.089 lakh hectares has occurred in the area under irrigation.
