Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the State government, in collaboration with the tourism department, is in the process of identifying new film shooting locations in Uttarakhand. This announcement came during a meeting the CM had with the renowned Bollywood director Vipul Amritlal Shah in Dehradun on Tuesday. Shah recently visited Dehradun to find locations for the shooting of his film ‘Hisab’. While appreciating the director’s decision to shoot his film in Uttarakhand, Dhami reiterated his government’s commitment to the overall development of the film production sector.

Dhami said that the process of identifying new shooting destinations with the support of the tourism department has already begun. This initiative aimed to promote relatively lesser-known tourist places in Uttarakhand through film shoots, he added.

Reciprocating the CM’s gesture of appreciation, Shah lauded the new film policy 2024 introduced by the Uttarakhand government as immensely film-friendly. He expressed his gratitude to Dhami for the new film policy, stating that it would further boost film production activities in Uttarakhand.

To recall,  the new film policy has provisions for subsidies, including upto 50 per cent of the expenditure for regional language films or a maximum of Rs two crore and 30 per cent of the expenditure for film to be made in Hindi and languages  included  in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution or a maximum of Rs three crore.

Additionally, the policy includes provisions for subsidies for short films, documentaries, OTT and web series. The new film policy also envisages establishment of a film city and film institute in the State.
