U’khand govt enters MoU with 5 banks for corporate salary package for employees

 In a measure which will benefit thousands of employees, the Uttarakhand government entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday with State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, Canara Bank and District Cooperative Bank to provide  benefits of corporate salary package to its employees. It is estimated that about 64 percent of the State government employees who have salary accounts in these banks will benefit from this contract. The MoU was inked in presence of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and finance minister Premchand Agarwal.

Dhami  expressed hope that all these banks will continue to work to make the corporate salary package more  beneficial for the employees. He said that the account will be provided the facility of personal insurance cover as well as other financial benefits. 

Under this, in case of accidental death, complete disability and partial disability of the personnel, the benefit of claim in the form of compensation and other benefits will be provided to their dependents without paying any premium.

As per the agreement between the State Government and these five banks an insurance cover upto to Rs one crore will be provided to the employees. The insurance will cover accidental death, complete and partial disability of the employees.

Along with this, there is also a provision of financial assistance in this package for future needs like medical treatment due to accident, ambulance facility, education of children, daughter’s marriage.

In case of natural death of the employee, the bank will also provide a contribution of Rs three lakh to 10 lakh to their dependents.

Chief secretary Radha Raturi, additional chief secretary  Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretary Dilip Jawalkar and representatives of the banks attended the programme.
