The State government has raised the laundry allowance for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in order to benefit them, the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said. Sharing this information, Rawat said the State government has been observing the challenges faced by NCC cadets in educational institutions across the State. Considering this, the government decided to raise their washing and polish allowance. The approved rates for washing cadets’ uniforms and polishing their boots have been increased to Rs 41, up from the previous Rs 10, he added. Apart from this, NCC cadets will receive this increased allowance directly transferred to their accounts. Rawat further said that NCC senior division cadets in the State will receive a washing and polishing allowance for six months per year, whereas junior division cadets will be granted this allowance for eight months annually. He emphasised the government’s prioritisation of establishing new NCC units in different colleges and schools across the State to widen the scope for more youngsters to join NCC. He disclosed that a number of high-level discussions have taken place on this subject and new NCC units will soon be established in several schools and colleges.
