The State government has revised its order regarding the 38th National Games to be hosted by Uttarakhand. The Sports and Youth Welfare minister Rekha Arya said that the amendment will benefit the players by revising expenditure standards for special training camps, accommodation, food allowance and other related expenses. Arya emphasised that the strategic plan for special training camps is intended to enhance the performance of Uttarakhand’s players, with the government providing financial and expenditure approvals. The updated directive also benefits coaches, with housing allowances increased from Rs 150 to Rs 800 per player and trainer, food allowances raised from Rs 250 to Rs 480, and sports equipment allowances remaining at Rs 5,000. Further, the allowance for sports equipment has been significantly increased from Rs 25,000 to three lakhs for standard use. The travel allowance (TA) has been raised from Rs 1, 500 to Rs 2,000, she added.
She further added that apart from this, the honorariums of the trainers stationed at various sports training camps, including the high performance director, head trainer, assistant trainer and strength and conditioning expert, have been adjusted. The head coach’s honorarium has been increased from Rs 75,000 to Rs 1,25,000 while the assistant trainer’s honorarium has been increased from Rs 40,000 to Rs 80,000. The government has included provisions for additional support staff in the revised order. The monthly honorariums for a physio and a psychologist have been set at Rs 60,000 each, while a nutritionist will receive Rs 60,000 per month and a masseur will receive Rs 40,000 per month. Arya further said that the government’s revised order is a commendable effort to support the performance of Uttarakhand’s players ahead of the 38th National Games. This step aims to ensure that players, trainers and assistant support staff do not encounter any financial issues that could negatively impact their performance, she said. The minister also inspected the ongoing preparation for the National Games in Rishikesh on Friday.
