U’khand Govt to offer unified pension scheme to its employees

Uttarakhand government has decided to extend the benefit of Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) to its employees. A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the State cabinet held at the secretariat on Monday. The employees covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) will be given an option to shift to UPS which assures a minimum assured pension. The State government employees will now of three categories (OPS, NPS and UPS). The UPS will be implemented in the State after April 1, 2025. 

The cabinet also approved the proposal to transfer 1,354.06 acres of land of Parag farm in Udham Singh Nagar district to State Infrastructure and Industrial Sevelopment Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (SIIDCUL) for setting up a Greenfield township. 

The cabinet also approved the plan of setting up marketing product development and quality control centres at Hawalbagh of Almora and Kotdwar of Pauri district. These centres will endeavor to encourage women entrepreneurship and will be constructed with the help of rural business incubator scheme. 

The Education department’s proposal to include a book ‘Hamari Virasayt evam Vibhutiyan’ in the curriculum of classes VI to VIII was approved by the cabinet. The book will cover the history of statehood movement, culture of the State and its Heros. 

In an important decision, the cabinet gave its nod to the proposal of the education department according to which the three year poly-technique diploma course offered by the Uttarakhand board of technical education- done by the students after completing class X- will be deemed equivalent to class XII. This will make the diploma holders eligible for taking admission in the under graduate level courses. 

The sugar mills of private and cooperative sectors will purchase the early variety of sugarcane at Rs 375 per quintal and normal variety at Rs 365 per quintal.

 In another important decision aimed at pleasing the employees the cabinet also approved the proposal to give the benefit of one time relaxation in eligibility condition to all the State government employees in promotions. 

DEHRADUN: The State cabinet approved the Trout farming scheme of the department of the fisheries in its meeting on Monday. 

 Under the Rs 200 crore scheme, inspired by the vision of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to develop the State as a leading state in the country in trout farming, the State government will provide input support to the fish farmers for construction of integrated raceways units for trout farming for a period of five years. The department will also set up trout hatcheries under the scheme to meet the demand of fish seeds. Under the scheme the fish breeders will be provided equipment such as deep freezer, ice box and other things required for marketing of trout.

The scheme will be funded under the fisheries and aquaculture infrastructure development fund of government of India. The department indents to increase the annual production of trout by 600 metric tonnes with the help of the new scheme. Trout is best grown in the mountainous areas and needed fresh flowing water. It is estimated that the scheme will provide direct and indirect benefit to more than 1,800 people.
