The board had imposed a ban on the industrial units for not submitting the EPR action plan
The Nainital high court (HC) has imposed a stay on the order of Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB) in which it had imposed a ban on the industries which had not submitted the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) action plan with it and were not registered in the board. After hearing the case the bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari ordered a stay on the December 2 order of the board and directed it to submit its reply till December 20.
The next hearing of the case is on December 20. It is pertinent to mention here that the UEPPCB had imposed a ban on the brand owners, manufacturers, importers and recyclers not registered with the board. In the ban order it said that the provisions of the government of India notified Plastic waste management act 2016 are not being followed. Barring a few companies, none of the industrial units had submitted EPR action plan. This order of the Board was challenged by the Kumaon Garhwal chambers of commerce and industry and SIIDCUL manufacturers association.
