The Uttarakhand government is hoping that the union government would increase the number of people covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the State. In the ongoing 15th Conference of Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) being held in Dehradun the State health department is expected to raise the issue during the deliberations on the Ayushman Yojana in the conclave. Uttarakhand health minister Dhan Singh Rawat told The Pioneer that as of now 12 lakh people are covered in the State under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He said that there are more than eight lakh farmers who receive the Kisan Samman Nidhi from the union government who can be included in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Similarly the roadside vendors, other poor families and labourers hereto not covered in the central scheme should be included in it. Pertinently the Uttarakhand government has covered the families which are not covered in the central scheme. Rawat said that the State has so far made health cards of 52 lakh people and if more people are added in the central scheme then it will save the revenue of the State government.
