Economic empowerment of women must for creation of an ideal society- CM
Uttarakhand government has taken up a target to make 1.25 Lakh Lakhpati Didis (women earning one lakh rupees per year through self help groups) till the year 2025. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this effort coinciding with the silver jubilee years of the formation of Uttarakhand would give an impetus to the economic development of the women of the State.
Speaking as the chief guest at the ‘ Lakhpati Didi Fair’ organised by the rural development department at Survey of India ground here on Friday, the CM said that one cannot imagine creating an ideal society in absence of women empowerment. The State government has initiated many steps to make the women economically capable. A loan of Rs 5 lakh is being provided to the women self help group (SHG) without interest, he said.
Dhami informed that efforts are being made to link SHGs for promotion of local products. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to the border village of Mana had made an appeal to the pilgrims coming to Uttarakhand for Char Dham Yatra to spend five per cent of their travel expenses for buying local goods. This would give a fillip to our local products and help in increasing the income of the women. The CM said that PM Modi has always remained committed to making the women economically strong.
Speaking on the occasion the rural development minister Ganesh Joshi said that the State government under the leadership of CM Dhami is working expeditiously in the direction of empowerment of the women.
He said that every possible effort would be made to economically strengthen the women of the State under the “Lakhpati Didi’ scheme.
The minister claimed that every possible effort is being made to provide the benefit of the schemes of the Union and State government to the general public.
