In preparation for the vote counting process of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to be conducted on June 4, the additional director general of police (Crime, Law and Order) and the State police nodal officer for the election, AP Anshuman instructed officials to implement three-tier security arrangements at all the vote counting venues across the State. He stated this in a video conference held on Tuesday with senior police officials of the State to review the arrangements for the counting of votes on June 4. The ADG directed all the district in-charges to personally visit counting sites in their respective areas to check the arrangements. A gazetted officer should also be appointed as in-charge of the counting site to ensure proper security, law and order there. The police must ensure proper anti-sabotage checking at the entry and exit points of the vote counting place. Two door frame metal detectors (DFMDs) must also be installed at entry and exit points while ensuring that the whole place is under CCTV surveillance. The ADG said that unauthorised people should not be allowed to enter the premises without a pass and vehicle parking arrangements should be made outside 100 metres radius of the venue. The respective in-charge should also fix the route of the victory procession after the completion of the vote counting process and deploy the police personnel as per the requirement. Proper arrangements should be made for crowd management too. Anshuman also directed the officials to conduct meetings regarding vote counting with representatives of all political parties and media in-charges to ensure proper management on June 4.
