Chief secretary Radha Raturi said that Uttarakhand has completed all preparations for the implementation of the new criminal laws- Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023 from July 1. Raturi informed this in a video conference with all the states under the chairmanship of the Home Secretary on Tuesday. She said that after the new laws were passed, the State administration coordinated with the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI) and the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPRD) for training. The administration sent 50 police officers from the police training college and authorised training centres of the State to Ghaziabad and Jaipur for the master trainer course. Besides this, the administration also prepared a Uttarakhand Police Handbook and all courses of new criminal laws are being conducted on its basis. She said that the book will help personnel and others to understand major laws in simple terms. The administration has distributed its copies among all police officers and employees. Besides this, the police department has also prepared three modules for online training. Those employees who do not have direct involvement in police investigations were trained in Artificial Intelligence based online mode. She also stated that the administration also decentralised training at the district level considering the short duration of time for the implementation of the new criminal laws. She said that all IPS officers and senior/ superintendents of police have already received a two-day training in March by the assistant professor of National Law University, New Delhi, which is based on the syllabus provided by BPRD. All police have also been registered at iGOT Karmayogi portal, she added.
