In latest news from Doon, the chief minister, in his Uttarakhand Pravasi Diwas inaugural address, said that the State had been marching ahead in all fields, particularly, in education, health, infrastructure and connectivity. Notably, this was the first ever Pravasi Diwas organised at Doon University and attended by people with origins in Uttarakhand. He began his address with an emotional mention of the recent Almora bus accident.
He said that the idea of having a Pravasi Diwas had struck his mind when he was in United Kingdom. He had been emotionally overwhelmed with the sentiments the people of Uttarakhand origin had for their native State, he said. “I was then wondering whether I was in Uttarakhand or in a foreign country,” he added.
