Uttarakhand’s tableau on adventure sports will be showcased on Kartavya Path at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi in 2025. The director general of Information, Banshidhar Tiwari stated that a total of 34 States and Union territories submitted their proposals to the expert committee under the Ministry of Defence in October 2024. The nodal officer and Information joint director KS Chauhan presented Uttarakhand’s tableau design, model and music to the committee. After thorough evaluation, the Central government declared Uttarakhand’s tableau design, model and music as outstanding through a letter dated December 21, finalising its selection, he said.
He further added that this year, a total of 15 States’ tableaux have been chosen for the Republic Day parade. The front portion of Uttarakhand’s tableau will depict a woman in traditional attire creating the Aipan art. The middle and rear sections will showcase adventure sports like rock climbing, paragliding, bungee jumping, river rafting, skiing in Auli and zip-lining in Rishikesh. It is anticipated that Uttarakhand’s tableau will be a major highlight of the parade, he said.
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “It is a matter of pride for our State that Uttarakhand’s tableau has been selected for the Republic Day parade. This year, the tableau will showcase Uttarakhand’s identity, natural beauty and potential for adventure sports. Our State is renowned not only for its spiritual and natural significance but also as a leader in adventure sports. Through this tableau, we aim to firmly establish Uttarakhand as a premier hub for tourism and adventure sports.”
