Greeting the women of the State on the occasion of International Women’s Day, chief secretary Radha Raturi said that women are getting empowered and are working alongside men in every sector.
The first woman chief secretary of Uttarakhand, Raturi said that the Constitution of India grants equal rights to women but despite development and improvement in women’s participation in every field, the society at large is still reluctant to give equal rights to women. “The society should follow the constitution in giving equal rights to women. The government has taken many measures to ensure women’s empowerment and has started many schemes for their welfare. The Uttarakhand government is working on formulating a women’s policy and it will be soon launched,’’ she said.
