U’khand to have 1000 apple orchards

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the State cooperative minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that with the State being endowed with immense apple potential, the State cooperative department is going all- out to promote high-density apple cultivation, production and marketing by implementing several schemes under Apple Mission. “We are trying to integrate all the apple farmers in the State in cooperative network so that the State becomes a frontline apple- producing one on the lines of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh,” he said while addressing a seminar on apple farming in Naogaon village in Pauri district.
While stressing that the climate of the State is perfectly conducive for quality apple production, the minister said that the State cooperative department is taking initiatives to develop 1000 apple orchards across Uttarakhand by making available easy agricultural loans for apple growers.
