U’khand to have development plans in all districts on environment
All development projects to be on the basis of this plan
The Uttarakhand government has decided to prepare district environment plan for all 13 districts of the state. In response to a question raised by Congress MLA Qazi Nizamuddin, the forest and environment minister Harak Singh Rawat said that the plan being prepared by the GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, Kosi Katarmal would be ready before April 21, 2021. He said that all the development projects in the district would be prepared as per this plan. The minister said that the level of the air pollution is high in Dehradun, Rishikesh and Kashipur.
He added that the air and water quality is being consistently monitored in eight municipal corporations of the state. In his question Nizamuddin sought to know about the environment policy of the state. He said that in view of the different geographical and other conditions of the state, the state should have a separate policy for environment. He added that it is unfortunate that the state has not taken any lessons from the Kedarnath disaster.
