U’khand to incorporate aspects of Lakshwadeep’s education model: Rawat

A team of State’s School Education department led by Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat is on a tour of Lakshadweep. He said positive aspects of Lakshwadeep’s education model may be incorporated in Uttarakhand. The team started its four-day visit to the nation’s smallest Union Territory on Wednesday.

On the first day the members of the team visited some schools in the Agati island during which they studied the educational system and infrastructure. They also interacted with the teachers and students. Education minister Rawat said that the team will study the Lakshadweep model of education and understand its innovations, educational techniques, teacher training and evaluation system during the tour. 

He said that the education model of Lakshadweep is environment sensitive and encourages community partnership. He appreciated the better coordination between use of technology and local resources in the education system of the UT.

Rawat added that key points of the education model of Lakshadweep will be incorporated in Uttarakhand. 

The team comprises of Education secretary Ravinath Raman, State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) director Ajay Nauriyal, additional director Padmendra Saklani, chief education officer of Bageshwar, Gajendra Singh Sonn, SMSA staff officer BP Maindoli and others.
