U’khand to install rooftop solar panels on all schools & hospitals

Chief secretary Radha Raturi has directed the Medical Health and Family Welfare, and the School Education departments to ensure that rooftop solar panels are installed on all the government hospitals and schools in the State. In the meeting of the expenditure finance committee (EFC) at the secretariat on Tuesday, the CS directed the Health secretary to immediately issue orders for mandatory installation of solar rooftop panels in all the health centers, hospitals and medical colleges of the State. She also directed the director general of School Education to issue an immediate order for the installation of rooftop solar panels in all the schools and hostels of the State.
Taking a stern view of cost escalation of projects due to delay in completion of works, the Raturi directed the senior officers of State administration to ensure that the projects are completed within stipulated period of time.
In the meeting the CS also directed the Health secretary to deploy adequate doctors in these areas after conducting a maternal death audit in sensitive areas with high maternal mortality rate.
In the meeting of EFC, the CS gave in-principle and financial approvals for construction of parking on the lower ground floor and diagnostic wing on the first and second floor and OT in district hospital Champawat. In view of the increasing demand for medical facilities in Champawat district, construction of a separate parking and administrative wing will free a space in the main building, which will be used for other medical facilities.
She also approved the proposal to upgrade the Community Health Centre (CHC) Purola in Uttarkashi district as a Sub District hospital.
The CS gave approval for the construction work of 50 bed Critical Care Block in Sub District hospital at Roorkee in Haridwar district.
The Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
