U’khand to organise mega silk fair in Doon

The cooperatives department of Uttarakhand would organise a seven day exhibition of silk products in Dehradun. In a meeting of the officers of the department held at the office of the State Integrated Cooperative Development directorate here on Friday the cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat directed the Uttarakhand Cooperative Silk Federation (UCSF) to start making preparation to host the fair in which the silk products from all parts of the country would be displayed. He said that the union minister for textiles and chief minister would inaugurate the fair.
The minister said that the fair would give a new identity to the Doon Silk. The products of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana would also be displayed in the fair. Appreciating the UCSF, Rawat said that the trainee officers at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy for Administration (LBSNAA) Mussoorie showed a keen interest in the silk products of the state in a recent exhibition. He said that the convocation dresses in all the universities would be made by the Doon silk only.
In the review meeting the minister said that all the three institutes of cooperatives, the UCSF, Provincial Cooperative Union (PCU) and Uttarakhand Cooperative Federation (UCF) should make their structure and business plan for the next year. In the meeting the secretary BVRC Puroshottam said that all the three federations have earned a profit of more than one crores each.
The chairman of UCF Matbar Singh Rawat, the president of UCSF Ajit Singh Chaudhary, chairman of the PCU Ram Mehrotra, additional registrar Ira Upreti, Anand Shukla and others were present.
