U’khand to reconstitute State Pharmacy Council

The Uttarakhand government has started the process of reviving the State Pharmacy Council (SPC). The council has been in a suspended state for the last eight years. The orders to reconstitute the SPC have been given by the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat to the officers of the department. This information was given by the minister to the office bearers of the diploma pharmacists association on Tuesday. A delegation of the association met the minister at his Vidhan Sabha office on the day. The minister said that the orders to reconstitute the SPC have been given to the officers of the department. He said that the Pharmacy Practice Regulation 2015 would be strictly implemented in the State after the constitution of the council. Rawat also gave on the spot orders to release the Uttarakhand pharmacist regulations which are pending at the level of administration.
The minister said that on the demand of the association, the 63 posts of pharmacists and chief pharmacists kept in the pool of Char Dham Yatra and VIP duty would be made active soon. In the meeting the association presented a memorandum to the minister in which many demands were made. The association demanded that the designation of the pharmacist should be made pharmacy officer and the 119 posts lying vacant in the medical education department should be filled after taking the options from the pharmacists serving in the health department. The association also demanded that the posts of pharmacists should be increased in the big hospitals and the seniority list of the pharmacist cadre should be released. The association also wants pharmacists to be given post-mortem allowance on the lines of Uttar Pradesh. The minister assured them that their demands would be accepted and directed the director general of health services to prepare a proposal for the demands.
The Health DG Dr Vinita Shah, director Bharati Rana, additional director Dr Meetu Shah, deputy secretary KK Shukla, the president of diploma pharmacists association JB Nautiyal, general secretary RS Airy and others were present on the occasion.
