Four ministers, three MLAs belonging to the dissident camp met Harish Rawat in Dehradun
The ongoing political drama in Punjab took a new turn on Wednesday as four ministers and three MLAs of Punjab arrived in Dehradun to meet the Congress in-charge of Punjab, Harish Rawat. These leaders are part of the disgruntled group which is demanding removal of Punjab chief minister, captain Amarinder Singh.
Rawat heard their issues and assured to take up their cause with the party high command following which these leaders went back to Punjab. He however told the media persons that Amarinder Singh would remain the CM face in Punjab.
Political temperatures soared in Punjab as the dissident group went into a huddle with Harish Rawat in a hotel in Dehradun. The dissident leaders were led by senior minister Tripat Rajender Singh Bajwa and had ministers Sukhvinder Singh Randhawa, Sukh Sakaria and Charanjeet Channi and MLAs Kulvir Jira, Barinderjeet Pahada and Surinder Dhiman.
After the meeting which lasted for three hours, Rawat told the waiting media persons that four ministers and three MLAs had come to meet him as they had some issues with the functioning of the state administration. “All these leaders are hardcore Congressmen and their major concern is the victory of the Congress party in the upcoming assembly elections. If some Congress leaders feel insecure and think that the administration can work against them then it is a serious issue,’’ he said. Rawat added that all these leaders assured that they have full faith in the party. He said that it is necessary that the party fights the elections unitedly in Punjab.
Talking to the media persons, the Punjab higher education minister Charanjeet Channi said that they had a very good meeting with the AICC general secretary Harish Rawat. “The meeting took place in a very conducive environment. We informed Rawatji about our issues and he assured us that he would take up our cause with the party high command in two to three days. We are satisfied with the meeting and going back to our homes. If we are invited to Delhi we would go there,’’ Channi said.
