U’Khand women’s policy being formulated in interest of women living in mountains & plains: Arya

The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya informed that the Uttarakhand State women’s policy is being formulated with consideration for the interests of women living in both mountainous and plain areas of the State. She made this statement during a review meeting held here with officials of the WECD department on Tuesday
During the meeting, officials presented the final draft of the “Uttarakhand State Women Policy 2024” to the WECD minister. Arya said that this policy aims to further protect the interests of women living in both the mountainous and plain areas of Uttarakhand. The Uttarakhand State Women Policy 2024 will be dedicated to the women of the State on State Foundation Day, November 9.
Arya emphasised that the objective of this policy is to ensure equal participation of women and men in the development of the state. It aims to promote equal involvement across various sectors, including social, economic and political fields. The policy draft will be presented at the upcoming cabinet meeting. Additionally, it includes strategies for ensuring gender budgeting that considers the interests of women in all 60 related departments, she said.
She further added that the primary goal of this women’s policy is to enhance women’s participation in the overall development of Uttarakhand. Arya stated that in order to empower women and promote self-reliance, the policy also emphasises providing reservations for women in the private sector.
Apart from this, Arya also released funds for September and October for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Vatsalya Yojana, transferring a total of Rs 338.10 lakh to their accounts. This includes 5,646 beneficiaries for September and 5,624 beneficiaries for October.
