U’khand’s Army captain martyred in Jammu & Kashmir

An army captain Deepak Singh, a 25-year-old resident of Dehradun, lost his life during an encounter with militants in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday. The incident took place in the Assar area near the tourist hill resort of Patnitop. Singh was leading his team in a search operation conducted by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. During the exchange of fire, Singh was injured and later succumbed to his injuries.
The senior army officials confirmed his death through X. Four militants were also reportedly killed during the operation. Security forces continue to conduct search operations across various areas, including mountains and valleys, to address ongoing militant activities in the region. Singh was commissioned into the Indian Army on June 13, 2020. His family lives in the Race Course area of Dehradun. His body will be brought back to Dehradun on Thursday.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also paid tribute to Singh on social media on Wednesday. He acknowledged the captain’s service to the nation and expressed condolences to his family. The Chief Minister prayed for strength for the family during this difficult time. He said that the Captain Deepak Singh’s loss is recognised as a significant contribution to the ongoing efforts to maintain security in Jammu and Kashmir.
