UKPSC needs permanent chairman: Jugran

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravindra Jugran has stressed on the need for the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) to have a permanent chairman, as there has been an acting chairman for the past two years, which negatively impacts the commission’s operations. He made the demand during a meeting with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday, where he submitted a representation regarding the UKPSC.
In his representation, Jugran reminded the CM about the recent postponement of the Provincial Civil Service (PCS) main examination. He said that the postponement, which occurred just one day before the scheduled date, adversely affected the morale of the candidates, particularly those from rural and hilly areas, for which the commission is also accountable. Jugran requested that the commission appoint a permanent chairman soon.
He stressed that it is essential for the government to review both the functioning of the commission and its members, who do not attend work regularly and only participate in meetings. Additionally, despite the commission having housing arrangements, members frequently travel from places like Dehradun to the commission located in Haridwar, he said. CM assured Jugran that necessary actions would be taken.
