The Commission was planning to follow pattern of UPSC in PCS examinations
Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) will conduct the upcoming Provincial Civil Service (PCS) examination based on the old pattern and syllabus rather than as per the examination pattern of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ravindra Jugran said that the UKPSC had sent a proposal to the State government to conduct the upcoming PCS examination as per the UPSC examination pattern. He said that it was concluded after the discussion of hundreds of PCS aspirants of the State that conducting the examination based on UPSC pattern will not be in the best interest of candidates appearing in the examination. Jugran said that he met the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the concerns of all aspirants and also sent him a detailed memorandum with crucial points. He said that he mentioned in the memorandum that chances of selection of local aspirants will considerably decline with the implementation of UPSC-based pattern for PCS examination. He said that most of the states including the state’s neighbour Uttar Pradesh have already rejected the implementation of UPSC-based examination in their respective states. Jugran said that the State government finally reconsidered its proposal and decided to conduct the upcoming PCS examination on the basis of the old syllabus after the intervention of the CM. He said that all aspirants have welcomed this decision and thanked Dhami for considering the welfare of youths.
