Umesh Dobhal Memorial Samaroh beginning today in Chamyali

The two-day Umesh Dobhal Memorial Samaroh begins   in Chamyali in Tehri district on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Umesh Dobhal Memorial Trust has announced felicitation awards for 2023 which would be given on Sunday. The Umesh Dobhal Samman would be given to the convenor of the Joshimath Bachao Movement Atul Sati and the print media award to Himansu Joshi of Tanakpur.

Umesh Dobhal Memorial Trust president Govind Pant Raju said while talking to this correspondent that all preparations have been completed for the Umesh Dobhal Memorial Samaroh 2023 in Chamyali. He further said that Atul Sati has been active in the realm of social welfare for a long time, raising questions on the hostile environmental impact of the hydro electric projects.  He further said that Sati has been leading the movement to save Helang pastures (charanga) and to mitigate the impact of the land subsidence on Joshimath.

This year   Rajendra Raju  Jan Sarokar Samman would be given to  Nainital’s Sipra Kalyan Samiti president Jagdish Negi for his contribution in  ensuring continuous flow of Sipra river.

Girish Tewari ‘Girda’ Samman would be bestowed on Bhaskar  Bhoryal of Bageshwar while Umesh Dobhal Memorial Journalism Award would be given to  Himansu Joshi (Nainital) for his role in print media, Kamlesh Bhatt (Champawat) for his role in electronic media and  Jai Deep Saklani ( Dehradun) for his role in social media for this year.
