Two separate incidents of deaths were reported in Dehradun on Sunday. In one incident, an unidentified man was found dead in a forest nala near Shuklapur. In another incident, a 52-year-old man drowned in the Song river near Maldevta.
The Vasant Vihar police received information that a body was lying in a drain in the Dandipur forest area of Asharodi range, beyond Shuklapur. The information was given by BDC member Arun Bhatt. A police team reached the spot and recovered the body. The deceased is estimated to be aged around 45-50 years. He had a light white beard and was wearing grey capri pants and a light blue half-sleeved t-shirt. The body was found lying face down in a rainwater drain. Police said it appeared to be four to five days old. Police also tried to identify the man with the help of local village heads, ward members and villagers. However, the body could not be identified due to its decomposed condition. Police also checked the missing persons register but found no match.
In the second incident, 52-year-old Sunil Negi, a resident of Chandramani Enclave, drowned in the Song near Maldevta. According to police, Negi had gone to Maldevta with his brother Santosh Negi around noon. The two were near Lal Pul when Negi entered the river to take a bath. He reportedly went into deep water and drowned. The Raipur police recovered his body from the river.
