An unidentified burnt body was found in the forest of Raipur area in Dehradun on Friday morning. The station house officer (SHO) of Raipur police station Amarjeet Singh Rawat told The Pioneer that the locals noticed a body in a dense forest near Ladpur on Friday morning. After the police got the information, a team was sent there to examine the body and the nearby site but nothing substantial has been found so far, said Rawat. He said that since the body is completely burnt, it was hard to tell whether it is a male or female body. He stated, “The body possibly burned in the recent forest fires in the area. For now, we have kept the body inside a deep freezer in a mortuary where it will be kept for the next 72 hours.” He said that the medical teams will also conduct tests to determine the gender of the body and other necessary details that can help the police to identify the body. The SHO also said that the police are also looking into missing people complaints to determine the identity of the body.  According to sources, both men and women frequent the woods in the area to collect fodder. The body found on Friday could be of a person killed due to a forest fire in the recent past. However, the details will be known after proper investigation.
