Union Government trying to exhaust farmers : Pritam Singh

Farmers’ agitation against farm laws

Uttarkhand Congress president Pritam Singh has said that the union government is working on a strategy of exhausting the farmers so that they are driven away from the ongoing agitation against three farm laws. He however also added that the Congress party stands firmly behind the farmers.

Launching an attack on the Narendra Modi government for trying to defame the protest of the farmers who are agitating peacefully and democratically since 62 days, the PCC president Pritam Singh talking to mediapersons said that Congress strongly condemns the stubbornly stance of the government. He said that the farmers of the country are only demanding that the three draconian farm laws should be withdrawn by the government but even after 12 rounds of talks deadlock continues because of these government has no intention to take back these laws. He said that it appears that the Union government has become a puppet in the hands of few businessmen.

Terming the incidents of 26th January as unfortunate, Singh said that the Jawan and Kisan are pitted against each other courtesy the centre. The PCC president alleged that no action is being taken on the controversial man involved in the Lal Qila incident whose pictures with the home minister and a MP of BJP are going viral. He said that it is now confirmed that this person was involved in the incident of Lal Qila but he is getting protection. The PCC president added that some people are deliberately infiltrating the ranks of farmers in order to malign the farmers’ protest. He claimed that the Congress party would not allow the government to defame the farmers. Singh questioned that when the government knew that some anti social elements can infiltrate in the tractor rally of farmers then why no preventive action was taken by the home ministry.
