Universities reflect achievements of the nation: Governor

The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has said that the educational institutes are the correct reflection of the achievements of any country. He was addressing a conclave of vice chancellors and academicians at COER University in Roorkee on Saturday.
The governor said that it is the appropriate time when the universities should move forward on education, research and dedication. He said that the time has come when we should sculpt our universities and make them institutions of international standard. The governor exhorted the educational institutes to play an important role in the development of the country. He opined that the universities play an important role in shaping the future of the youth. Singh said that the universities should prepare such youths who are job providers and not job seekers. He added that India will become a world leader by such youngsters. The governor said that the teachers play an important role in society and exhorted the academicians to prepare the generation of Amrit Kal by their experience.
He expressed confidence that the conclave will prove to be a step in the direction of a strong India. Noted author and inspirational speaker Shiv Khera and former chairperson of Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UkPSC), JMS Rana also addressed the conclave.
The VCs of more than 50 universities of 20 states and heads of about 400 educational institutions attended the conclave. A felicitation ceremony was also organised in the conclave. The chancellor of COER University JC Jain, founder Sunita Jain, Pro-VC Shreyansh Jain and others also attended the programme.
