Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reiterated his appeal to migrant Uttarakhandis to participate in developmental efforts in the State. The State government has decided to form the Uttarakhand Pravasi Parishad to enable the migrant Uttarakhandis to contribute in the State’s development for which unprecedented work is being done in various spheres.
He said this while speaking at the Uttarakhand Diwas programme at the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024 in New Delhi on Sunday. Dhami said that the natives of Uttarakhand retain their culture, folk traditions and traditional foods wherever they go across the nation or abroad. Stating that the IITF provides an opportunity to bring the State’s culture, handicrafts and rich heritage on the global platform, he appreciated the various products from Uttarakhand displayed in the stalls at the venue.
The CM said that the nation is progressing towards the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of making India a developed nation by 2047. With the PM’s farsightedness enabling the nation to set new records, various sectors have witnessed considerable progress in the past 10 years. Dhami said, “Uttarakhand has completed 24 years of its creation and has now entered its silver jubilee year. PM Modi had spoken from Kedarnath that the third decade of the 21st century will belong to Uttarakhand and the State government is working on the ground to achieve this. Our State is progressing in all spheres. The construction of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line will fulfill the dream of bringing the train to the mountains while helicopter services are being launched in various parts of the State under the UDAN scheme. Historic work is being done on roads, education, health and other sectors in Uttarakhand. Along with medical colleges, 20 model colleges are being established in the State while a satellite centre of AIIMS Rishikesh is being built in Udham Singh Nagar,” he said.
He said that along with strengthening the infrastructure, the local industries are also being empowered. The State is becoming self-reliant in sectors like agriculture, horticulture and handicrafts. Dhami also appreciated the role being played by women in making the State self-reliant, adding that women are gaining self employment and also providing employment to others.
Union minister of State Ajay Tamta said that the State government is consistently working to achieve the vision for which Uttarakhand was created. While products of Uttarakhand are reaching across the nation and abroad, the State is also emerging as a new destination, he said. Former CM Tirath Singh Rawat said that local products are being encouraged in the fair as per the vision of PM Modi, adding that the demand for Uttarakhand’s products is rising across India and abroad. Industries secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey informed that products from Uttarakhand amounting to Rs 1.16 crore had been sold in the past seven days at the IITF while orders worth Rs two crore have been received by craftsmen.
