The Prabha Khaitan Foundation (PKF) under its book launch initiative Kitaab, brought together history enthusiasts, literature lovers, and scholars under one roof at India Habitat Centre in Delhi to celebrate eminent author and historian Vikram Sampath’s latest literary contribution, his tenth book, Tipu Sultan: The Saga of Mysore’s Interregnum (1760-1799)

The book was launched in the presence of the Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, former MP Pavan K Varma and former ambassador Bhaswati Mukherjee. “In a world that constantly seeks to understand its past, Vikram Sampath’s book on Tipu Sultan offers not just a historical narrative but a deeply nuanced exploration of a pivotal chapter in Indian history. Sampath’s work is a testament to the importance of rigorous scholarship and critical inquiry and we are elated to be part of this celebration of history, intellect, and thought,” PKF national advisor Vinnie Kakkar said.

Jaishankar emphasised the importance of such historical works that bring to light both celebrated and lesser-known facets of the past. He praised Sampath’s dedication, noting how crucial it is to revisit historical narratives with a discerning eye, especially when they concern figures as controversial and polarising as Tipu Sultan.
