UPCL announces relief for electricity consumers in July bills

The Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has decided to provide a relief of Rs 112 crore to the electricity consumers of the State in the bills of July 2025. The corporation has implemented the Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA) system which allows it to pass on the changes in the cost of fuel used to generate power to consumers when fuel prices rise or fall. The corporation saved money in the electricity purchase cost head in the month of May 2025 and it has now decided to transfer this saving to the consumers in the bill cycle of July 2025.
As per the FPPCA, the UPCL will provide a rebate of 24 paise to 65 paise per unit to the domestic consumers, 94 paise per unit to the non-domestic consumers, 88 paise per unit to government public utilities, Rs 29 paise per unit to private tube wells, 40 to 46 paise per unit to the agricultural activities,87 paise per unit to LT industries, 86 paise per unit to HT industries, 81 paise per unit on mix load, 81 paise on railway traction, 81 paise per unit on electric vehicle charging station and 100 paise per unit on the temporary electricity connections in billing cycle of July 2025. The UPCL had provided a rebate of Rs 101 crore to the electricity consumers under FPPCA in May this year.
