UPCL consumers to get rebate under FPPCA

In latest news from Dehradun, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) is set to return Rs 26 crore to its consumers in October by way of rebate under the newly introduced system of Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA). Sharing details, UPCL officers said that the extra electricity tariff collected from the consumers would be returned through adjustment. Under the new system, the costs of purchasing power and fuel charges UPCL incurs are being incorporated in the electricity bills of the consumers every month. Notably, the UPCL managing director Anil Kumar had said a few months ago that FPPCA regulatory system was being introduced in the electricity bill of the consumers. Earlier, the adjustments were being made every three months but later it was decided that the adjustments would be made every month. UPCL officials further informed that the cost of power purchased by the corporation in August had been lower than the average rate and this is being adjusted in this month’s bill through providing rebate to the tune of Rs 26 crore to about 26 lakh consumers.
