The employees of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) planted saplings on the premises of the Urja Bhawan on the eve of Harela on Monday.
The drive was held on the orders of the UPCL managing director Anil Kumar.
After the drive the officers and the employees of UPCL took a pledge to protect the environment and participate in building a clean, green and beautiful Uttarakhand.
Speaking on the occasion, the director (Operations) MR Arya urged all the officers and employees to plant as many trees as possible on Harela festival. He said that apart from planting trees it should be ensured that the planted trees are protected.
Arya said that the Harela festival is a symbol of happiness, prosperity, peace and gives a message of protecting the environment.
