With the State government focusing on boosting winter tourism, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) is working to ensure undisrupted power supply in popular winter tourism destinations along with the winter abodes of the Char Dham deities. UPCL managing director Anil Kumar has directed the regional units to ensure smooth power supply in tourism and pilgrimage locations including Mussoorie, Auli, Lansdowne, Jyotirmath, Dhanaulti, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Chamoli, Chakrata, Tehri, Devprayag, Harshil and the winter abodes of the Char Dham deities. He said that the corporation is regularly reviewing the status of sub stations, HT/LT power lines and street lights in these locations to ensure that the tourists and pilgrims do not face any inconvenience related to power supply. The availability of necessary items including conductors, cables, poles and transformers is also being ensured to deal with any accidental situation so that the power supply can be restored in the shortest time in case of disruption. All the superintending/executive engineers have been directed to inspect 33/11 KV sub stations and the 11 KV feeders from these points in their respective areas while also remaining present in a high alert mode.
