UPCL receives award for better performance in PM Surya Ghar scheme

The ministry of New and Renewable Energy has felicitated the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) for its performance in the PM Surya Ghar scheme.
The corporation has received this prize for the fourth consecutive time.
The award was presented to the UPCL managing director Anil Kumar Yadav by Union minister Pralhad Joshi and the chief minister of Rajasthan Bhajan Lal Sharma in a regional review meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan on Saturday. The award includes a citation and Rs 9.5 crore.
Yadav said that more than 14,000 rooftop power plants have been installed in the State and 50 MW of electricity is being produced.
The Energy secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram and additional secretary Ranjana Rajguru were also present on the occasion.
Expressing happiness at the achievement of the UPCL, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the PM Surya Ghar scheme will not only help reduce the burden on conventional sources of energy but is also helping improve the economy of the people.
The State has set a target of installing 40,000 solar rooftop plants in the State till 2027 and generating 250 MW of the electricity.
Under the scheme, a subsidy of Rs 50,000 (Central share Rs 33,000, State share Rs 17,000) for one KW capacity plant is being provided to consumers under the scheme. Similarly a subsidy of Rs one lakh and Rs 1, 36,800 is being provided for plants of two KW and three KW capacity respectively.
