UPES, in collaboration with CNH Industrial India, the manufacturer of agriculture and construction equipment, announced the names of the winners of theCNH x UPES Industrial Design Programme. The university’s office bearers said that 20 students in five groups were enrolled in the 10-week programme to offer them the opportunity to understand real-world projects and gain hands-on experiences. They added that the collaborative effort had brought together young minds in industrial design to tackle the challenge of designing a fruit-harvesting machine.
Speaking about the programme,the head of design at CNH Industrial, David Wilkie said that it was a good experience for them to see the research and design creativity in the young students. He further said that the design teams had come up with ideas for harvesting coconut, pineapple, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and mangoes. The dean, School of Design, UPES, Phani Tetalisaid that with this initiative they hoped to equip the next generation of designers with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the industry and create an impact.
