UPES holds 21st convocation, awards 2,656 degrees

UPES held its 21st convocation on Saturday wherein a total of 2,656 students from eight schools of the university were awarded degrees. The university also launched the NEST programme which offers UPES alumni lifetime placement assistance. Speaking on the occasion, the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh said, “The students ought to bear in mind the importance of perpetual acquisition of knowledge, individual development and contributing to the community. Nowadays, by attaining esteemed degrees, students not only bring pride to their educational institution but also fulfill the aspirations of their parents. With the erudition and endeavours of the youth, India will successfully reach all benchmarks within 25 years,” he said.
Singh also commended UPES for its contribution to the field of research, which has brought pride to the country.
The university vice chancellor Ram Sharma spoke about the journey of the university in the past one year. The students were also felicitated with 15 gold medals, 61 silver medals, six silver plates for CCE graduates and 24 certificates of appreciation at the convocation.
