UPES unveils ‘Himalaya Calling 2025’ to champion regional sustainability

UPES inaugurated Himalaya Calling 2025—a three-day global summit hosted by the Himalayan Institute for Learning & Leadership (HILL) at UPES—under the theme ‘Rising with Himalayas to Accelerate SDGs.’ Presiding over the inaugural ceremony, Governor Lt Gen (retd) Gurmit Singh said that Himalaya Calling was a collective commitment to conserve the Himalayas. “The Himalayan Institute for Learning and Leadership (HILL) has become a platform where knowledge meets action, uniting communities, scientists, policymakers and students to co-create sustainable solutions,” he added.
The summit engaged 700+ students and 1,600+ delegates in hybrid mode across 17 offline and nine online sessions.
Notably, 10 Padma Awardees, includingAnil Prakash Joshi, G P Talwar, N K Ganguly, Prem Chand Sharma, Kalyan Singh Rawat, Vijay Sharma and Madhuri Barthwal, were present on the occasion.
This also marked the opening of a public exhibition of Himalayan Products, showcasing over 400 items spanning crafts, foods and mementos, which will remain open till September 11. The summit will showcase 25+ sessions with 128 eminent speakersfrom national and international organisations, academia and NGOs dedicated to the Himalayas, alongside another exhibition on Himalayan Photography.
