The director general of police Abhinav Kumar directed the officials to upgrade their action plan for traffic management on Char Dham routes as the number of local pilgrims and tourists is expected to increase soon considering summer vacations in several States nationwide. The Char Dham Yatra is related to the people’s faith, identity and economy so it should be the main focus that the pilgrims get a better experience in the State without any adverse impact on their pilgrimage. This was stated by the DGP during a meeting with senior police officials at Joshimath in Chamoli on Monday. He held the meeting regarding the smooth conduct of the Char Dham Yatra through proper traffic management on all routes. He said that when traffic pressure increases, the police should make arrangements to halt passengers at designated places. Such places should be near main towns to ensure the passengers can get the facilities like food, beverage, accommodation and essential commodities during their stay there. He said that to maintain smooth arrangements in Badrinath Dham after the Darshan, the pilgrims should be sent towards their destinations continuously. This will ensure that all can have a smooth and well-organised Darshan without overcrowding in the temple premises.
