The outsourced employees of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited (UPNL) will gherao the secretariat today in order to be heard by the State government.
According to the president of the UPNL Employees Union, Kushagra Joshi, thousands of employees from various districts have been protesting for over two weeks at the protest site in Ekta Vihar but the government failed to initiate any dialogue with them. He said that the government is avoiding them probably because they are protesting in peace but now they have decided to intensify their protest.
“We wanted a relevant dialogue with the government in order to raise our issues before the administration but our government could not get the time for the protesting workers. So now we have decided to gherao the secretariat to make ourselves heard by the higher bodies,” said Joshi. Moreover, the union had also decided to gherao Secretariat a few days ago too but it could not happen as they didn’t get the permission from Dehradun district administration. However, this time the protestors made it clear that they would gherao Secretariat on Monday irrespective of the administration’s permission.
