Various decisions were taken for the welfare of the families of the police personnel in a review meeting of the Uttarakhand Police Wives Welfare Association (UPWWA). Chairing the meeting, UPWWA chairperson Alaknanda Ashok reviewed the works undertaken by the association and measures were considered to address various aspects related to families of the police personnel. Directions were also issued to organise free health camps for the police personnel and their family members.
The UPWWA chairperson stressed that a three-member team should be formed to address cases of domestic discord in police families. This team will provide counselling to the family two times a week. Such matters will be kept confidential, she said. Remedial classes should be conducted in the evening for the students who are unable to perform well in studies in Police Modern Schools so that they can improve in their studies.
The children of police personnel who have fallen prey to substance abuse or phone addiction should be provided counselling and they should also be made aware of the damage caused by such vices, Alaknanda Ashok stressed.
